Which hire period applies to you
The hire period depends on the type of waste, not the size of the bin. All four sizes, from 3m³ to 8m³, follow the same rule.
- General waste: household mixed waste and green waste, up to 7 days.
- Builders waste: renovation and construction waste, up to 14 days.
- Extra days: $20 per day after the included period.
Planning your job around the hire period
Book when you are ready to fill it
Sort through the house, shed or garden before the bin arrives. Have the waste piled and ready so you use the hire days for loading, not deciding what to throw out.
Stage a renovation
On a longer renovation, think about when the waste is created. Demolition and strip-out usually produce the most waste in a short burst. You may be better off timing the bin for that stage, then booking another later if needed.
Line up your helpers
If friends or trades are helping, book the bin to suit their days. A bin that sits empty while you wait for help still counts toward the hire period.
Tell the team if you need longer
If you already know the job will run past the included period, mention it in your booking request. If it runs over during the hire, call the team so they can plan the collection.
When to call
The office is open Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 12:00pm. It is closed Sundays and public holidays. If your job is running over, call during those hours on 0487 360 094.
You can send a booking request through the website at any time. The team then confirms availability and the details with you. See how it works for the full booking process.
Other costs to keep in mind
Extra days are only one part of the picture. Excess weight, overfilling and mattresses can also add to the cost. Our skip bin cost guide covers them all.
