Weight limits in our 3m³, 4m³, 6m³ and 8m³ Builders & Renovators Bins may restrict the amount of concrete, tiles, bricks, blocks and/or sand that can be placed in the bin. The team will talk through the job and the right way to handle it.

- Never fill a bin with heavy material to the rim. Weight is the limit, not space.
- Asbestos cannot go in any bin. Older roof and wall sheeting may contain it.
- Soil and rubble mixes: ask the team first.
- Tree stumps are not accepted in Builders & Renovators bins.

Why heavy materials are handled differently
Every bin is sized by volume, but it also has a weight it can safely carry. With light waste, you run out of space first. With concrete, bricks, tiles and sand, you run out of weight first, sometimes with most of the bin still empty.
Skip trucks also have legal load limits. A bin that is too heavy may not be safe or legal to lift and carry, which is why the team needs to know about heavy loads before the bin is sent.
Never overload or overfill
It can be tempting to top up a bin with a few more bricks. Please do not. Loading beyond what was agreed can mean the bin cannot be collected as planned.
Bins must not be filled above the rim. Transporting an overfilled skip bin is an offence, and an additional fee of $80 may apply to overfilled bins. Builder mixed waste over the allowance is charged at $38.00 per 100 kg.

Can I put concrete in a skip bin?
Yes, but volumes are restricted by weight. Contact the team on 0487 360 094 before booking.
Why can I not fill the bin with bricks?
Bricks are very heavy for their size. A bin full of bricks could exceed the weight that can be safely and legally lifted and carried, so the amount has to be limited.
Which size suits heavy materials?
Ask the team. For heavy loads the weight limit matters more than capacity, so a bigger bin does not always mean more material. The team will recommend a size for your job.
Can old roof tiles go in the skip?
Roof tiles are a published category with restricted volumes, so contact the team first. Asbestos cannot go in any bin, so if old roof or wall sheeting may contain it, have it assessed by a licensed professional before removal.
What happens if the bin is too heavy?
