The four sizes explained
3m³ skip bin
The smallest bin in the range, at 2.4 m long, 1.6 m wide and 0.9 m high. It suits small household clean-ups, garage and shed tidy-ups, garden waste and general rubbish where space is tight. The short length makes it the easiest bin to fit on a small driveway. See the 3m³ skip bin details.
4m³ skip bin
The same 0.9 m height as the 3m³, but longer at 3.2 m. That extra length gives you more room without making the sides any harder to load over. It is a practical all-rounder for bathroom strip-outs, moving house and residential clean-ups. Read more about the 4m³ bin.
6m³ skip bin
The step up from the 4m³, at 3.5 m long, 1.5 m wide and 1.2 m high. It handles larger household clean-ups, whole-house renovations, deceased estate clear-outs and bulky green waste. See the 6m³ skip bin page for typical jobs.
8m³ skip bin
The largest bin in the range. It sits on the same 3.5 m by 1.5 m footprint as the 6m³ but stands 1.6 m high. It suits large property clean-ups, bigger renovation projects and general waste in volume. Check the 8m³ bin details.
Height, footprint and loading
The 3m³ and 4m³ bins are both 0.9 m high. That is a comfortable height to lift bags, boxes and garden waste over by hand. If most of your waste will be carried and tipped in, a lower bin makes the job easier.
The 6m³ and 8m³ bins share the same 3.5 m × 1.5 m footprint. The 8m³ gets its extra capacity by being taller, at 1.6 m. So it takes up the same ground space as the 6m³ but holds more. The trade-off is higher sides, which take more effort to load over.
Short on space but need more capacity? The 8m³ uses no more ground than the 6m³. Just plan how you will get waste up and over the 1.6 m sides.
Weight matters as much as volume
Every general waste bin comes with an included weight: 450 kg for the 3m³, 600 kg for the 4m³, 800 kg for the 6m³ and 1,000 kg for the 8m³. Light, bulky waste like furniture and cardboard fills a bin by volume. Heavy waste like soil, tiles and wet garden waste can reach the included weight well before the bin is full.

A quick way to choose
Work out what kind of waste you have: household, green, builders or heavy.
Look at how much space you have on site. The 3m³ is 2.4 m long. The others are 3.2 m or 3.5 m long.
Think about how you will load it. Lower sides suit hand loading.
Check the included weight against how heavy your waste is likely to be.
If you are between two sizes, the larger bin usually costs less than an overfilled one.
