How much space you need
- 3m³: 2.4 m long × 1.6 m wide × 0.9 m high
- 4m³: 3.2 m long × 1.6 m wide × 0.9 m high
- 6m³: 3.5 m long × 1.5 m wide × 1.2 m high
- 8m³: 3.5 m long × 1.5 m wide × 1.6 m high
Measure your driveway or chosen spot before booking. Remember the bin is only part of it. The truck needs clear room and straight access to line up and set the bin down. Parked cars, boats and other vehicles nearby can all get in the way.

Overhead and side clearance
Bins are lifted on and off the truck by its loading arms. That means the space above the bin matters as much as the ground.
- Look up. Overhanging branches, power lines, carports, eaves and gutters can block the arms.
- Allow clearance on each side of the bin, not just the bin width.
- Check gates and gateposts. Measure the gap if the bin needs to go through one.
- Move vehicles, pot plants and anything loose out of the way before delivery day.
The ground under the bin
Choose a stable, level surface. A loaded skip is heavy, and it needs to sit safely until collection.
- Soft ground. Lawns and dirt areas can soften after rain. A spot that is firm on a dry day may not be after a wet week.
- Slopes. A bin on a steep slope is harder to load and place safely. Pick the flattest area you can.
- Pavers and decorative driveways. If you are worried about your surface, ask the team about it before you book.
Loading and neighbours
Think about where you will be loading from. Placing the bin close to the work cuts down on carrying. Leave a clear path from the house, shed or garden to the bin.
Keep shared driveways, footpaths and neighbouring access clear. A quick word with the neighbours before delivery goes a long way.
Private property or road reserve
A bin on your own driveway or yard is on private property. A bin on the road, kerbside, footpath or nature strip is on public land, known as the road reserve. Council requirements may apply there.
